کتاب دعای دریا، رمانی نوشته ی خالد حسینی است که نخستین بار در سال 2018 منتشر شد. داستان این رمان در قالب یک نامه روایت می شود؛ نامه ای از پدری به پسرش در آستانه ی یک سفر سرنوشت ساز. پدر با نگاه به پسرش که در کنارش خوابیده، به سفر خطرناک گذشتن از دریا فکر می کند؛ سفری که در پیش رویشان است. این کتاب همچنین، تصویری ملموس از زندگی آن ها در حمص، در سوریه ی قبل از جنگ و دگرگونی تدریجی شهرشان به جهنمی جنگ زده را ارائه می کند. حسینی پس از دیدن تصویر تکان دهنده ی آیلان کردی، پسر سه ساله ی سوری که امواج دریا جسدش را در سپتامبر 2015 به ساحلی در ترکیه آورد، تصمیم گرفت این داستان را بنویسد. این نویسنده ی پرفروش با کتاب دعای دریا، یاد و خاطره ی میلیون ها خانواده ای را زنده نگه می دارد که زندگیشان به خاطر جنگ از هم پاشید.

درباره نویسنده:
خالد حسینی، زاده ی ۴ مارس سال ۱۹۶۵ در کابل، نویسنده ی افغان-آمریکایی است. عمده ی شهرت وی بابت نگارش دو رمان بادبادک باز و هزار خورشید تابان است. نام آخرین رمان او، و کوهستان به طنین آمد، می باشد که به فارسی نیز ترجمه شده است. حسینی ساکن ایالات متحده است و آثار خود را به زبان انگلیسی می نویسد.خالد حسینی به همراه خانواده اش در سال ۱۹۸۰ به سن خوزه در ایالت کالیفرنیا مهاجرت کرد. او درخواست پذیرش از دانشگاه سانتاکلارا (Santa Clara) کرد و مدرک لیسانس خود در رشته ی زیست شناسی را از این دانشگاه کسب کرد و در سال ۱۹۹۳ از دانشگاه پزشکی شهر سن دیگو در رشته ی پزشکی فارغ التحصیل شد.خالد حسینی ازدواج کرده و دارای دو فرزند (یک پسر و یک دختر با نام های حارث و فرح) است.
