Alieh Atai is an Afghan writer originally from Herat who grew up in Iran. She has a master’s degree in theater from Tehran University of Arts and in addition to writing short stories, she also works in the field of plays and screenplays. Alieh Atai won the Mehregan Adab Award for writing the novel Camphor Poosh, and again won the Waw Literary Award for the same novel for a different novel of the year, and has also won awards for writing a play. Persian-speaking critics consider her one of the most influential female writers of her time. Alieh Atai writes about immigration and tells the story of the second generation of immigrants. People who consider themselves part of it and say, “It’s not clear if one day I feel like I’m back home and have a story to write.” He is currently preparing a novel entitled “Border Year” in which, like his other works, she deals with the Afghan immigrant generation.
