The story is simple, and the arrival of Mr. Movadet and the story of the genie and the company of his friends to get rid of the genie are the only processes that bring the main character, Dr. Hatem, into the scene. A doctor who, until the close encounter, is introduced to the reader as a committed and skilled person. Shortly after, the surreal aspects of the story emerge: where Mr. Movadet’s companions hear from the doctor about a man who came to him to have his hand, the only remaining hand, ampoule cut off! The man has already cut off his other hand, legs, ears, and nose, but for what reason? In the meantime, a philosophical discussion breaks out between Movadet’s friends and the doctor, and the doctor still insists on maintaining his false face. He claims to offer people ampoules that will restore their youth and fertility, while the doctor himself has a young face but is actually old and sterile.

بهرام صادقی در ۱۸ دی ۱۳۱۵ در نجفآباد به دنیا آمد. او تا سال ۱۳۳۴ در اصفهان زندگی کرد و سپس برای ادامه تحصیل در دانشکده پزشکی دانشگاه تهران، به تهران سفر کرد.از سن بیست سالگی همزمان با تحصیل در رشتهی پزشکی، داستانهایش را در مجلات ادبی به چاپ میرساند. وی پس از سی سالگی کمتر مینوشت. اولین داستان کوتاهاش وقتی بیست سال سن داشت منتشر شد و «ملکوت»، تنها داستان بلندش، را در بیست و پنج سالهگی منتشر کرد.مجموعه داستان «سنگر و قمقمههای خالی»، داستان بلند «ملکوت» و چند داستان کوتاه پراکنده، کل آثار او را تشکیل میدهند. همین دو کتابِ چاپ شده آنقدر بود که او را از بزرگترین داستان نویسان معاصر ایران و صاحب سبکی پیشرو بدانند.بهرام صادقی در شامگاه دوازدهم آذر ۱۳۶۳ به دلیل ایست قلبی در منزلش در تهران درگذشت.
