اگرچه از شاهنامه بسیار گفته و بسیار نوشته‌اند، اما این قلعه‌ی تودرتو هنوز ناشناخته مانده است. هردرش به درهای بسیاری باز می‌شود كه با گذر از هر یك به شگفتی‌های تازه‌ای می‌رسیم. در این مجموعه نویسنده كوشیده است كه در مسیرهای ناشناخته‌تر این قلعه تودرتو حركت كند، تا با پرهیز از تكرار افسانه‌ها آن‌ها را از زاویه‌ای نو و از درون متن ماجرا بازآفرینی كند. جلد اول این مجموعه كه از زبان دو آشپز دربار ضحاك به نام‌های «ارمایل» و «كرمایل» بازگو می‌شود، داستان زندگی كاوه، فریدون و ضحاك است. مجموعه «قصه‌های شاهنامه» در نخستین جشنواره‌ی مطبوعات كانون پرورش فكری كودكان و نوجوانان (آبان 1375) در بخش بازنویسی برنده‌ی لوح زرین و دیپلم افتخار شده است.

Two snakes have grown on Zahak’s shoulders, a slave of Eblis which is actually the Satan. The snakes feed on young people’s brain.
